Adrián Barrera is a professional in Public Administration, a beekeeping technician who is currently taking courses in apitherapy. He was born in Riosucio, Caldas, but has been raised in Pereira since the age of 3. His connection to the world of bees goes back before he was born, as his maternal family has been involved in beekeeping for generations. Interestingly, his relationship with beekeeping was put to the test at the age of 2 when a doctor diagnosed him as allergic and warned that a single bee sting could be fatal. Although this kept him away from beekeeping activities, he continued to enjoy the delicious honey produced by his family's apiaries.
His love for bees and his desire to work in the field of his ancestors led him, 13 years ago, to confirm whether he was still allergic. With some fear, he entered an apiary and allowed the bees to sting him. To his surprise, after several stings, he remained unharmed. He had been cured of his allergy and could now dedicate himself to working in beekeeping.
Today, he makes a living from beekeeping. He founded his own company called "Apiarios Adrián Barrera," where he is dedicated to the conservation, protection, production, and commercialization of all bee-related products, as well as providing beekeeping services and apitherapy.
