DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY
Asohass is an association that brings together Hass avocado producers from Bella, La Florida, La Convención, Apia, Santa Rosa, and Belalcázar. We contribute 1% to Asohofrucol, which provides us with technical assistance for our producing farms. Most of our farms are certified by the ICA for Good Agricultural Practices and Exporting Farm registration. Some farms also hold the international Global GAP certification.
Asohass was established as an association on February 7, 2014, with 24 producers who were participating in avocado Hass training sessions organized by the Rural Development Secretariat of the Municipality of Pereira. During this period, we received our first Hass avocado trees as a donation, along with inputs and fertilizers, which allowed us to start our journey as producers. By 2016, we were already exporting and selling our first harvests in the domestic market.
From its foundation to the present day, we have continued to export avocados to some trading companies. Additionally, we have an exclusive market agreement with Pricesmart, where we supply domestically grown avocados packed in 1.5 kg mesh bags. The packing process takes place in a collection center that provides employment for 5 single mothers, and we deliver 6 tons weekly.
