DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY
COOPRAMAR works on strengthening productive chains by promoting the organization of producers, agro-industrial processes, and marketing. The cooperative also provides support to agricultural producers in improving the quality of their products. To achieve its goals, COOPRAMAR establishes alliances with the public, private, and academic sectors.
COOPRAMAR was established on November 17, 2004, and was legally registered with the Chamber of Commerce in Pereira on December 6, 2005. It represents 247 members from various productive chains in the municipality, such as plantains, cocoa, avocados, citrus fruits, and more. Through active participation in governmental processes and private foundations, the cooperative has been involved in projects with the MIDAS International Foundation and 5 PRODUCTIVE ALLIANCES, led by the Government of Risaralda and the Ministry of Agriculture. Coopramar has a commodate for a collection center with the municipal administration for the past fifteen years to improve the collection and marketing of fruit from regional producers.
To enhance the quality of life for its members and the community at large, the cooperative has sought to strengthen various productive chains. This includes providing technical and administrative training to agricultural producers and planning production while considering market behavior, soil conditions, and climate on each of the farms.
Currently, Coopramar is leading a project with the Rural Development Agency to establish an Agro-Industrial Plantain Processing Plant. This project is in the initial execution phase.
