DESCRIPTION AND HISTORY
Don Plátano Apía is made up of three members of the same family, and we are dedicated to the production of ripe plantain arepas. We have been in the market for two years with a great response. Currently, our production facility is located in the municipality of Apía, and we also have a commercial establishment where we provide table service for these and other products.
In 2020, with the aim of providing an alternative to plantain consumption in the region and strengthening the agro-industrial sector of the municipality of Apía, this company was founded, specializing in the production of ripe plantain arepas. The intention was to offer something different from the traditional plantain products like chips or tostones. Initially, the arepas were sold frozen, but based on market experience and analysis, the decision was made to change the packaging to vacuum-sealed packages, and they are now sold ready for consumption.
Currently, the company relies on the efforts of the family to drive its development. Thanks to the high plantain production in the municipality, they can purchase directly from local producers and have a steady supply of raw materials. The company's goal is to foster local and regional development by creating direct job opportunities and supporting producers, some of whom have at times shifted away from plantain cultivation due to lack of expertise in other crops.
