Candilejas Café S.A.S. began with concerns about the future of the coffee market in our region and country, a situation that has been increasingly affecting coffee growers and making the product that has sustained our family for generations less profitable.

While sipping a delicious coffee made by my father, we discussed the possible options for small coffee producers to achieve better prices for their product, dry parchment coffee. One of the conclusions from our conversation was that we should seriously consider the idea of creating a coffee brand and start marketing it among our friends and acquaintances, some of whom had enjoyed coffee from our farm, sometimes roasted and ground in our home and prepared with great pride.

We thought about the virtues of coffee and how much we enjoyed it. We also considered the strengths of our farm and our cultivation. We talked about generational transition and the evolution of coffee farming in our region, as well as the strength of Belén de Umbría being part of the Coffee Cultural Landscape, among other things.

The enthusiasm was so great that we began thinking about coffee producers who could join our coffee brand project, and to our good fortune, to get started, we already had the support of four family-owned farms!
