The company Galedsa Seda Guatiqueña, originally from Guática, Risaralda, was established more than 20 years ago with the purpose of cultivating mulberry trees, raising silkworms, transforming the cocoons into threads and weaving on handlooms under the name Seda Latina. This initiative, made up of women and men farmers, has evolved and grown with the support of SENA and the Government of Risaralda through the Fondo Emprender program.

It has recently changed its corporate name, becoming a Simplified Joint Stock Company (Sociedad por Acciones Simplificada, SAS). This project is currently in the execution phase, with the main objective of strengthening the silk route, integrating handicrafts with a relevant component focused on tourism.
